The fight training doesn’t stop, because the world wants to fight the COVID-19 pandemic with quarantine. Staying healthy during this time is important, and the beat goes on for fighters training for a fight camp. The fight fans are having unprecedented access to UFC fights during this time and it is paramount that healthy fighters plan for the future. Jeremy Stephens is one of the most game fighters in the UFC, he is a veteran of over 30 professional MMA fights and is forging on to stay active in the roster. While the Alliance MMA gym in Chula Vista, California is closed due to quarantine, he seeks training sessions with Dominick Cruz and by virtue of being close to each other as friends and training partners they can both benefit from the rounds. In what started as a conversation in jest, the two collaborated to keep the UFC 249 Event alive for the fans.
“Bro, we can go down to 7/11 right now and be undefeated all day, but I want to give the fight fans what they deserve,” Jeremy Stephens said.
“Let’s do it then, we can get you ready, my house and your house are our new Alliance Training Center!” Dominick replied excitedly.
This pact was cemented in their first of many Top Deck sparring sessions overlooking beautiful San Diego, California. Since then the two run trails together, do deep end fitness sessions in their respective pools, and watch Netflix’s Tiger King between sessions to find humor in the darkest time in recent memory.
The work never stops for Dominick Cruz, he is doing interviews, Nerf Bow Wars, and engaging fans on social media to stay ready, healthy, and keen to the need for discussion, entertainment, and positive outlook as the world stays home.
